Position Title: Home Educator

Department/Program: ABC Home Based Head Start


Reports to: Program Director / Program Coordinator


Job Summary:

The Home-Based educator is responsible for the implementation and documenting of home-based curriculum based on Head Start Performance Standards in the educational, nutritional, health, social service, and parent involvement components. The home-based educator will function as a part of the team in the implementation and documentation of socializations. He/she must be flexible, have the ability to develop rapport with parents and work within the framework of the program’s philosophy and objectives. This job requires a minimum of 60% traveling time to and from home visits with families.



Education/Experience:

High School Diploma with 9 hours of Child Development college level. A minimum of 6 months experience working with young children is required.

Language Skills:

Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or the organization.

Position Title: Activities Coordinator

Department/Program: Adult Wellness Center


Reports to: Program Director / Program Coordinator


Job Summary:

Plans, organizes, supervises and coordinates a broad program of activities for the Adult Wellness Center. Coordinates a comprehensive program of therapeutic and recreational activities tailored to the interests, needs and/or limitations of older adults, from the independent to the frail elderly. Implements planned activities by contacting agencies or individual consultants and speakers to provide programs or classes of interest; organizes group projects, discussions, games, crafts, dramatizations, celebrations, field trips… Supervises the facilitation of daily programming. Supervises ordering of meals after consulting with nursing staff and dietitian. Notes and reports physical or emotional changes in participants to immediate supervisor and L.P.N. for further action and discussion with AWC Interdisciplinary Team. Create and manage monthly newsletter for disseminating information about programming to participants and caregivers.



Education/Experience:

Must possess an associate degree (AA) in human services. Recreational therapist or a qualified Social Worker preferred. One year of experience in recreational programs. Demonstrated experience in working with older adults or other underserved population.

Position Title: Administrative Assistant

Department/Program: Adult Wellness Center


Reports to: Program Director / Program Coordinator


Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to program staff in order to ensure the day-to-day operations of the Adult Wellness Center. Performs routine clerical functions (i.e., types, photo copies, files, handles correspondence, answers telephones, greets visitors, etc.).



Education/Experience:

High School or its equivalent; some college preferred. Must have four years of Administrative Assistant experience, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Must type a minimum of 60 w.p.m. Must have writing and time management skills sufficient to fulfill direct service and documentation responsibilities. Must have good leadership/initiative and inter-personal skills.

Language Skills:

Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Position Title:Disabilities Manager

Department/Program: Children Services


Reports to: Program Director


Job Summary:

This job is responsible for participating in the planning, development and implementation of the Mental Health/Disabilities plans and policies developed in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards. This person acts as coach and trainer for the teaching teams and families support staff as they serve children and families with special needs.


Education/Experience:

B.A. or B.S in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related social sciences, plus two years of classroom work in an early childhood setting.

Language Skills:

Language Skills:
Bilingual in English and Spanish; be able to advocate effectively in outside settings for children and families.

Position Title: Teacher (Type O4 Certification)

Department/Program: Children Services


Reports to: Program Director


Job Summary:

Responsible for the education and general development of children, including classroom implementation of the center plan that is geared to meet the needs of each individual child enrolled in the program in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards. Education/Experience:

BA in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of twelve (12) weeks supervised field experience working with three (3) to five (5) year old children in a center based pre-school program. State certification Type O-4 is required.

Position Title: Teacher’s Assistant


Department/Program: Children Services


Reports to: Site Director

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Teacher Assistant is responsible for the education and general development of children in the Head Start Center for pre-school and school age children. The Assistant will conduct special educational activities requiring skills and specific training in working with children.


Education/Experience: 30 hours of college credit including nine (9) hours of Early Childhood/Child Development. One (1) year of experience in pre-school classroom. MUST be bilingual (English/Spanish fluency).

Reports to: Resource Coordinator, Club Instructor


Job Summary:
Position is temporary and part time for a period of 10 Months. Starts September and runs until June of 2009. Hours are from 2:15PM to 5:45 PM.
The Assistant is responsible for providing support in the lesson planning and implementing of club activities with 20 school age children that will promote: emotional learning, arts and culture, community service health care, out of school academics, community involvement, and family engagement. Employee will attend and contribute to scheduled staff meetings and trainings. The Assistant will assume corresponding responsibilities in the absence of the Instructor.


Education/Experience:High School Diploma or GED plus work experience with school age children.Ability to communicate effectively. Must have basic math, reading and computer skills.

Position Title: Case Manager Foster Care

Department/Program: Foster Care


Reports to: Clinical Supervisor


Job Summary:

Provides case management services to DCFS Wards and their families. Assesses individual client situations, prepares client service plans, ensures parent-child and sibling contact, making interagency referrals and providing follow up in order to properly monitor and report the client’s progress to juvenile court. Access to an automobile and valid license/insurance is essential in order for worker to make home visits, attend agency meetings, school staffings, ACR’s, court appearances, etc. he employee will contribute with the Agency’s efforts related to prevention and integrated service delay with other community providers. Carries a caseload of approximately 20-22 DCFS Wards, providing Case Management services to the children and their parents under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. BS/BA in Social Work or a related field required. Minimum of one-year experience in a Child Welfare environment preferred. Must have access to an automobile and a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Position Title: Field Supervisor

Job Summary:

Monitors and provides direct supervision of home care workers within the home care services program. Assists in the coordination of home care services to clients, under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Director. Must be able to travel throughout the city, as well as ability to conduct home visitation in various neighborhoods.

Education/Experience:

AA degree or equivalent college credit hours. Candidate should have experience, which indicates that the applicant has the ability to perform the supervisory activities required for the position, and at least one year of experience working with older adults.

Position Title: Home Care Aide (Part Time)

Department/Program: Home Care Services

Job Summary:

Perform or assist clients in their homes with personal care, essential shopping or errands, routine housekeeping skills/tasks, home maintenance and repairs; teaching/performing of meal planning and preparation; laundry; assisting with self-administered medication; individual must have the ability to lift 25 pounds or more and climb up and down the stairs (i.e. laundry bags, assist clients by lifting them if they fall or need assistance).

Education/Experience:

HS Diploma/GED or one (1) year of homecare direct service or related work. Must participate in pre-training or have experience in homecare related services.

Position Title: Administrative Assistant (PT)

Job Summary:

Performs typing, answers phones and performs the secretarial duties for the Over-55/Early Intervention program. Types memos, letters, forms and reports. Sorts and distributes mail. Routes mail and verbal or written messages. Answers telephone, give general information to public. Compiles statistical information. Performs data entry duties. Assists in compiling office files. Receives and processes client applications. Responsible for ensuring that office supplies are stocked and available. Performs receptionist functions for the site. Notifies counselors and director when clients arrive.

Education/Experience:

Minimum of High school Diploma or GED. Must have good communication skills, as well as basic math and writing skills. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products and the ability to produce Excel spreadsheets and reports.

Position Title: Resource Development Officer

Department/Program: Resource Development


Reports to: Director of Development


Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Resource Development, this job is responsible for contributing in all aspects of agency fundraising including: the writing and preparation of proposals and reports to corporate and foundation funders, prospect research, and individual fundraising that includes cultivation and solicitation of individual donors. Is an integral member of the Resource Development team involved in fundraising efforts, stewardship of donors and agency supporters, the annual telethon, and developing and disseminating information about agency work to outside audiences. Further, works collaboratively and routinely with all Casa Central programs and departments.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Grant writing experience preferred.

Language Skills:

Bilingual/Bicultural in English and Spanish preferred. Strong writing and editing skills. Ability to effectively present written and oral information and respond to questions from the public.

Position Title: Transportation Coordinator

Department/Program: Transportation


Reports to: Transportation Manager


Job Summary:

Schedules and dispatches Casa Central vehicles in support of pickups and deliveries; coordinates the timely processing of all transportation documents.

Education/Experience:

High School diploma/GED equivalent; Associates degree or higher preferred. 2-3 years relevant experience. Ability to effectively coordinate donation pickups and deliveries. Knowledge of DOT rules & regulations. Proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel, Access, Outlook. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Organized and detail-oriented. License: Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Position Title: CDL Driver

Department/Program: Transportation


Reports to: Transportation Manager


Job Summary:

This job is responsible for transporting participants to and from the facility and during special events as requested. Reports any routine problems to supervisor. In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned: Drives program vehicles as requested. Ensures the safety and well-being of the participants while transporting from home to the facility and vice versa. Reports in writing mechanical problems with vehicles and relays to supervisor all concerns, problems, or changes pertaining to participants’ well being in route to and from facility. Works the occasional weekend and/or holiday. Escorts the participants from their homes to the Adult Wellness Center’s vehicle and in and out of the facility as needed. Attends and coordinates drivers’ meetings. Completes and maintains logs and sign in logs on a weekly basis. Inspects vehicle that will be using for assignment assuring that it is maintained in good working condition.


Education/Experience:

No specific education level is specified, however, position requires the ability to read and write. Must have experience driving a van or other large vehicle. Must also have experience working with aged or frail adults and children. Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Language Skills:

MUST be bilingual (English/Spanish fluency).
