Casa Central's School Age program engages 120 children, ages 5 to 12, in a variety of educational, cultural and recreational activities while their parents are still at work or school. The program offers children opportunities to play, learn, and grow in a safe and healthy bilingual/ bicultural environment. Participation in this program spares parents the worries of having their children home alone or occupying their time on the streets.
Transportation is provided to our program at 1335 N California Ave, Humboldt Park, from eleven (11) Chicago Public schools each day during the school year.
Quality Child Care
The School Age Program offers families quality child care while they are working, attending school, or attending a TANF approved training program. The program operates full day during the summer, sponsoring weekly trips to sporting events, movies, museums and parks.
Year-round Activities & Transportation
Students are exposed to a wide variety of year-round field trips. During the school year, the School Age Program provides daily snacks. There is also an hour of homework time where the students can work on homework from school, or receive tutoring help in a specified area. The staff strives to be actively involved in their student's lives and work hard to provide individual care and resources for them.
Collaboration with Other Organizations
The School Age Program collaborates with Champions Tutoring Program, Junior Achievement and Moody Bible Institute, and several other organizations to provide resources, activities, and individual tutoring for staff and students.
