The month of March marks the annual celebration of National Professional Social Work Month. This year’s theme, “Social Workers are Essential” was selected by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and highlights the invaluable contributions social workers make in our society, especially as this nation addresses the COVID19 pandemic.

Casa Central proudly celebrates and highlights each one of the Social Workers that are part of our organization and serve our community through our different programs. We recognize their hard work and dedication to make a difference in the lives of children, older adults, individuals and families, and their endless commitment to serve the communities through this unprecedented national emergency.

“Social workers, who are often unsung heroes, make a difference in so many lives every day of the year, not just during the one month of the year when we communally recognize them. Please join me in thanking the social workers in our lives and at work, because their service to others strengthens us all.” said Martin R. Castro, President & CEO, Casa Central.

Social workers are an integral part of Casa Central and are the ones who help us fulfill our mission of Transforming Lives and Strengthening Communities. We thank our social workers as well as all social workers around the country for their tireless efforts to enrich the lives around them every day.

“I became a social worker because I wanted to help empower people to have confidence in their stories and find the strength to persevere despite the trauma they have experienced. What I love most about the social work profession is listening to people's stories. It is an honor and a privilege to listen in an effort to help them make sense of their experiences and find meaning in the struggle.” stated Stephanie Scherer DeFilippis, Social Worker at Casa Central.

Casa Central recognizes and admires all Social Workers and their drive to create greater social change that will benefit many individuals, families, and communities.
