Casa Central, one of the largest Latino social service agencies in the Midwest, is gearing up to celebrate its Day of Hope on Thursday, June 24, 2021. Traditionally celebrated in April, many things changed during the course of the pandemic, and Casa Central has been patiently waiting to regroup and offer the community the opportunity to join now that it’s safer to do so.

Day of Hope is a series of community-based, educational activities centered around Casa Central's programming, relevant topics of discussion, and resources for our participants and community, and is completely FREE to the community! The day culminates with a networking reception which will be held at Recess and The City Hall in the West Loop from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The reception affords guests great company, food, music, and drinks for $50/person at one of the hottest spots in Chicago.

“Our focus this year is on racial and health equity, two areas which are critical to the diverse communities we serve. The twin pandemics of disproportionate violence and virus impact on Brown and Black communities this past year has created a new rallying call to address the future well-being of our communities and Day of Hope will help us set the agenda going forward,” states Martin R. Castro, President and CEO for Casa Central.

The Day of Hope program includes:

Panel Discussion – June 24, 2021, at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Location:
Recess, 838 W. Kinzie, Chicago, IL
Cost: FREE

TOPIC: The New Normal: Promoting Black & Brown Unity and Collaboration
The pandemic has further laid bare the racial inequities that exist throughout the United States. Protests and civil unrest following the disproportionate loss of life of Black and Brown Americans from the virus and police use of force, illustrate the need to change the status quo and dismantle the institutional racism that oppresses Latinos and African Americans and has been designed to keep our two communities from uniting. Join us as our panelists address this topic and explore opportunities for us work towards a more inclusive and equitable 'New Normal'.
