Humans are social beings, and our connection to others helps us survive and thrive. But when this is absent among older adults, it raises the likelihood for cognitive decline, depression, and even heart disease to set in.

But older adults are not the only ones affected by this.

Many family caregivers often worry about whether their aging parents are receiving the appropriate care and supervision during the day. It can become stressful when caregivers are also managing other responsibilities, such as work or raising children.

Our dedicated team at the Adult Wellness Center is committed to caring for older parents the same way they would be cared for at home.

Since 1981, Casa Central’s Adult Wellness Center in Chicago’s vibrant Humboldt Park neighborhood, has served as a beacon of light, health, happiness, and hope for those in greatest need: older adults.

Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, with the option of escorted transportation guiding their way to the first of two freshly made meals awaiting their arrival, we provide a range of engaging activities designed to nurture the physical, cognitive, social and creative well-being of individuals who are 60 years and older.

Spirited dominoes and bingo, billiards and other card games, arthritis and balance exercises, artistic crafts, delightful field trips and joyous music and dance celebrations (every Friday!) are just some of the activities participants can choose from to make each day the best it can be.

We also have an on-site nurse who monitors the well-being of our participants throughout the day, and we offer monthly health, wellness, and safety workshops.

Smiles are the best indicators.

They are used to greet people, express happiness, boost self-esteem, and convey confidence. 

Every weekday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., our team is dedicated to making adults 60+ smile (the bigger the smile the better!). 

While it may make us a little sad to see our participants go home each afternoon, the thought of welcoming them back the next day always brings a smile on our faces.
